Fitted furniture in Berwick-upon-Tweed
Most Timber Wall Panelling enquiries we take in Berwick-upon-Tweed start with an opening that is not a standard size. Local stock is dominated by border stone farmhouses, colliery terraces and coastal fishing cottages, which sets the sizes and profiles we work to. Add the harshest combination of cold, wind and salt in England to that and combined frost and salt damage stripping finishes within a few seasons becomes the usual trigger for replacement. The part that matters is setting out so panel lines relate to the doors and windows.
We check on site before committing anything to the saw, and we query what does not add up. Give us the basics and you will have a written figure, not a range that moves later.
Local factor worth flagging early: Northumberland exposure justifies the heaviest sections and stainless fixings.

We scribe to the wall
Every panel is cut to the actual line of the plaster, so there is no tapering gap running down the side of the unit.
We measure at three heights
Alcoves are routinely 20 to 40mm wider at the bottom than the top. One measurement is how you end up packing the gap out.
We finish off site
Sprayed under workshop conditions, which is a level of finish site application simply cannot reach.
What clients tell us
Feedback collected directly from completed projects. Full written references are available on request before you commit.
“The alcoves were nearly 40mm out top to bottom and you genuinely cannot tell.”
Verified client, Northumberland“Finish is better than anything we have had sprayed on site, and it has stayed that way.”
Verified client, Northumberland“They redesigned the internal layout after asking how we actually store things.”
Verified client, NorthumberlandBerwick-upon-Tweed questions
Will the finish need maintaining?
A factory-applied microporous finish typically needs inspection every three to five years, sooner on exposed coastal elevations. Maintaining it is far cheaper than letting a coating fail and the timber take up water.
What if the opening is out of square?
Most older openings are. The survey records the actual dimensions at several points and the unit is manufactured to suit, which is the main reason we survey rather than work from the sizes given over the phone.
Can you match an existing profile?
Yes. If you can supply a section, a photograph with a rule in shot, or an old unit, we can replicate the profile. For conservation work this is usually the condition the planning officer will apply.
What guarantee do you provide?
Ten years on workmanship, covering manufacture and the factory-applied finish. Where we install, the installation is covered too. It is issued in writing with the handover paperwork.
How do you handle glazing?
Standard double glazed units for most work, and slim-cavity units where a conservation officer has restricted sightlines. Single glazing with putty lines is available where the consent requires it.
