Fitted furniture in Conwy

The Media Walls we make for Conwy is set out from a survey, not a size chart. You are mostly dealing with slate-quarry terraces, Victorian resort stock and stone farmhouses around here, so openings vary more than people expect. severe Irish Sea exposure with very high rainfall is the local complication, and salt and rain combining to strip finishes and open glazing joints is what it eventually causes. What we concentrate on is ventilation and cable routing designed in before anything is cut.

Each opening is recorded individually, since a terrace of identical houses rarely is. Photographs and approximate sizes are all we need to start.

A local consideration we always raise: Llandudno's Victorian frontages are protected as a coherent conservation set.

What we cover locally

Survey visits in Conwy are usually booked within a week. There is no charge for the survey and no obligation to proceed.

Nothing in your house is square in Conwy

Which is the entire reason built-in furniture costs more than flat-pack, and the entire reason it looks better.

01

We scribe to the wall

Every panel is cut to the actual line of the plaster, so there is no tapering gap running down the side of the unit.

02

We measure at three heights

Alcoves are routinely 20 to 40mm wider at the bottom than the top. One measurement is how you end up packing the gap out.

03

We finish off site

Sprayed under workshop conditions, which is a level of finish site application simply cannot reach.

Conwy questions

Do you work in hardwood or softwood?

Both. Engineered hardwood is the default where movement or exposure is a concern, and slow-grown softwood is often the better value choice for painted work in sheltered positions. We will tell you which we would specify and why.

Can you work on a listed building?

Yes, and a significant share of our work is listed or conservation area. We can supply drawings and section details to support a listed building consent or planning application, though the consent itself remains the owner's responsibility.

How long does a typical order take?

Most made-to-size orders run six to ten weeks from survey to delivery. Conservation and heavily detailed work can take longer, and we confirm the lead time in writing at quotation rather than leaving it open.

Do you take a deposit?

Not before the measured survey. A deposit is only requested once the survey is complete and you have approved the final schedule and price.

What if the opening is out of square?

Most older openings are. The survey records the actual dimensions at several points and the unit is manufactured to suit, which is the main reason we survey rather than work from the sizes given over the phone.
