Fitted furniture in Holyhead

Home Libraries around Holyhead is a different job from one street to the next. Most of what we survey locally is slate-quarry terraces, Victorian resort stock and stone farmhouses, which is not built to any modern module. Because of severe Irish Sea exposure with very high rainfall, we see salt and rain combining to strip finishes and open glazing joints more often here than in most of the country. The value is in shelf spans calculated so loaded shelves do not sag over time, not in the timber bill.

Nothing is ordered until someone has stood in front of the opening with a tape. A quick call or a photograph of the opening is usually enough to get you a price.

Local factor worth flagging early: Llandudno's Victorian frontages are protected as a coherent conservation set.

What we cover locally

Survey visits in Holyhead are usually booked within a week. There is no charge for the survey and no obligation to proceed.

Nothing in your house is square in Holyhead

Which is the entire reason built-in furniture costs more than flat-pack, and the entire reason it looks better.

01

We scribe to the wall

Every panel is cut to the actual line of the plaster, so there is no tapering gap running down the side of the unit.

02

We measure at three heights

Alcoves are routinely 20 to 40mm wider at the bottom than the top. One measurement is how you end up packing the gap out.

03

We finish off site

Sprayed under workshop conditions, which is a level of finish site application simply cannot reach.

Holyhead questions

Can you match an existing profile?

Yes. If you can supply a section, a photograph with a rule in shot, or an old unit, we can replicate the profile. For conservation work this is usually the condition the planning officer will apply.

Can you work on a listed building?

Yes, and a significant share of our work is listed or conservation area. We can supply drawings and section details to support a listed building consent or planning application, though the consent itself remains the owner's responsibility.

What if the opening is out of square?

Most older openings are. The survey records the actual dimensions at several points and the unit is manufactured to suit, which is the main reason we survey rather than work from the sizes given over the phone.

Do you fit, or supply only?

Both. Supply-only is common for trade and contractor clients. For private clients we usually recommend supply and fit, because responsibility for the fit and the finish then sits in one place.

Will the finish need maintaining?

A factory-applied microporous finish typically needs inspection every three to five years, sooner on exposed coastal elevations. Maintaining it is far cheaper than letting a coating fail and the timber take up water.
